Penn State Beaver Athletics recognized its 2019-20 and 2020-21 male and female athletes of the year at its Hall of Honor induction Feb. 19.
Justyn Francona was named the male student-athlete of the year and Jimya Chambers and Emily Keener the female student athlete of the year for 2019-20.
Francona, a baseball player, was named the PSUAC All-Senior Team as well as a PSUAC All-Academic athlete.
Chambers was a USCAA All-American basketball player, a PSUAC All-Academic, and PSUAC Defensive Player of the Year. Keener, also a basketball player, was named USCAA All-Academic and PSUAC All-Academic athlete.
The 2020-21 male athlete of the year is Dominic Petrella and the female athlete of the year is Cassadie Speed.
Petrella, a baseball player, was named to the USCAA All-Academic and PSUAC All-Academic teams.
Speed, who plays softball, was named to the USCAA All-Academic, PSUAC All-Academic, and the PSUAC All-Conference teams.
The student-athletes of the year, chosen by department administrators, embody the “Rise with Honor, Roar with Pride” values. They are recognized as role models, displaying leadership in the classroom, in their sport, as well as in the community. They embody the core values of integrity, responsibility, respect, community, and excellence.
